Walls
Add texture to the walls to create a very sensual environment. Clad the rear bed wall and window wall in warm cherry wood veneer. On the side walls, go for bronze two-tone silk, with a process known as silk wall battening. |

|
Floor
Lay a stone floor with underfloor heating to add to the sensual pleasure of the room. |
|
|
|
Artwork
Add an inspirational piece of artwork to the room, such as The Lament for Icarus, a pre-Raphaelite painting by Herbert Draper. Position this on the rear of two sliding window screens allowing the painting to be hidden away to increase its impact. |
|
|
|
Bed
Give the bed pride of place in the room. A low level suede bed, fitted with crisp silk linen gives the room sex appeal. |
|
|
|
Bed head
On the wall above the bed, position an alcove. Cover the back wall with gold leaf to add a sense of luxury to the scheme. |
|
|
|
Ceiling
Above the bed hang sixteen conical fabric cones, which is a modern interpretation of a Thai canopy. This will draw attention to the bed and add to the oriental theme of the room. |
|
|
|
Water feature
Introduce a bespoke water feature to soften the room further and add sensual sounds to calm and soothe. |
|
|
|
Furniture
Go for minimal design in this room by hiding clutter away in corner wardrobes. Allow yourself no furniture other than the bed and a simple cherry wood table. |
|
|
|
Ornaments
To complete the look, position one or two oriental ornaments in key positions around the room. |
|
|
|
Inspiration
Laurence got his inspiration from a visit to the smart Halkin Hotel in Belgravia and a trip to the Wat Buddhapadipa temple in Wimbledon. |
