Create a modern, stylish and trendy living area for a teenage boy when looking cool is all-important.

Walls
Paint the walls purple to create an up-to-date look. |

Floor
Sand the floor and paint it white to contrast with the purple walls and add light to the room. |

Shutters
Use metal-style laminate shutters as replacements for the curtains. Cut out two identical sized rectangles from the sheet, using the correct tools and safety gear. Fix hinges to the rear of the shutters and attach to the wall. |

|
Bed
Make a bed cover from black leatherette. This means that during the day the bed can double as a sofa and at night the cover can be removed to reveal the bed. |

|
Lighting
Make a new ceiling lamp shade from polypropylene. Cut a spiral line around a plastic square to make a spiral shaped shade. Pierce holes in the plastic and stick in chrome eyelets. Thread wire through the holes for extra strength and attach to the ceiling. |
|
|
|
Furniture
Update existing furniture to blend in with the design by painting it the same colour as the walls. |
