Walls
Paint the walls a subtle cream colour to act as a backdrop to the design. |

Storage
For storage, use space by building shelves that fit into the alcoves. These can be used for the display of books and ornaments. Suspend the shelves using wire for extra strength and interest. |

|
Study area
Where space is tight, try hiding a computer into an alcove. This will also help you forget about work when you are relaxing. |

|
|
The shutters
Make softwood shutter frames to separate the bed area from the rest of the room for nighttime privacy. Weave paper strips together to make a large sheet and fit this round the frame before securing. |

|
|
Bed area
Fit a light above the bed. Why not use under-lit glass blocks as bedside lamps as these will create soft lighting. Attach castors onto the bed to enable the bed to be moved easily if necessary. Dress the bed with cream bed linen. |

|
|
Relaxing area
Knit a huge throw for the settee, using a knitting machine. (It is possible to hire them from local sewing shops) Build an Oriental, low coffee table using thick bamboo poles glued together and tie with jute string for extra strength and detailing. |
|
|
|
Additional lighting
Complete the look with a funky modern light. Purchase a low light with a solid base. Wrap a tall length of plastic corrugated sheeting around the light and secure the two ends together. |
