|

|
Bring a touch of Mexico and nature into a kitchen by using natural products and an accent colour of deep red to spice up the room.

Walls
Give the walls a base coat of pale green paint. |

Stencilling
Create a funky stencil effect by shining a bright light through a cheese plant and then tracing round the shadow on the wall. Paint round the outline in a dark red colour. |

Flooring
Laminate flooring is easy to lay and makes a kitchen look clean and modern. Follow the guidelines from the supplier before starting to do the job. |

|
|
Kitchen area
Update the kitchen units by covering them with cork, using a contact adhesive. Also attach new door handles to complete the look. |
|
|
|
Dining area
Build a decking area and put strip lights underneath for a dramatic effect. Erect a trellis around the table to create a private area. For the dining table, revamp an old café table by putting a large rough plank of elm on top. Treat it with Tung oil. |

|
Hanging frame
For the dramatic decoration make a frame by stringing bamboo poles together in a random fashion. Fix securely to the wall and hang jam jar lights and pots of fresh herbs from it using butchers hooks. |
|
|
|
Jam jar lights
Carefully spray jam jars with glass etch and fix small mosaic tiles round the jar. Wrap picture wire round the lid of the jar to make a handle for hanging and drop a tea light into the holder. |
