Transform a garage into a dual-purpose room where both Mum and the children have their own space. This design includes a chill out zone for the boys and a smarter, better organised utility area for mum.

Windows
Garages can be cold, dark and dingy places. Start by clearing the area and fitting new windows to give the room a sunny airy feel. |

|
|
Walls
Insulate exterior brick walls with insulated plasterboard. Paint these a cheerful yellow and the remaining walls in the room a crisp clean white. |
|
|
|
Flooring
Cover the floor with polystyrene insulation. Then add a floating wooden floor on top. Cover this with light blue hardwearing carpet and dress with beanbags for the children to lounge around on. |
|
|
|
Utility area
In the far end of the room, create a utility area for Mum. Remember to fit skirting to the bottom of the walls to provide a clean finish and to banish spiders forever. |
|
|
|
Shelves
To complete the play area, construct some new shelving for the childrens games as well as wooden chests for their toys. |
