|
Design a striking bedroom that is full of Aubrey Beardsley influences. Chic design is combined with plenty of storage space to create a functional and attractive room.

|
Walls
Paint the walls ivory and the window frames gloss black. The skirting boards should be painted aubergine. Spray paint a stencil onto the walls in aubergine to complement the skirting boards. |

|
Painted rug
Mark out the central area of the floor and paint it fuchsia. Paint the outside border black. When all is dry, paint black whip lashes onto the fuchsia rug area. Seal the rug with matt varnish and the rest of the floor with gloss varnish. |

|
|
Chaise Longue
Dye calico material fuchsia and using foam mount, stretch the fabric over the chaise longue smoothing out the creases. Complete with whiplashes painted on with black fabric paint. |
|
|
|
Windows
Cut out whiplash swirls from MDF, paint black and attach as corner pelmets on each window. Use iron-on vilene to give the blinds a Beardsley look. |

|
|
Furniture
Sand down wooden furniture. Paint black and decorate with a silver stencilled design. Add pediments to the wardrobe and bed. Add lead-on-a-roll to the edges and ornamental leaves cut from copper embossing sheets. Spray silver. |

|
|
Storage space
Rather than a traditional wardrobe, give storage space a theatrical feel, by drawing a flamboyant border onto white painted MDF. Secure to the wall and hang a pink curtain from it to hide the storage space. |
|
|
|
Theatrical lighting
Make a lamp stand for a light by cutting out a shape from strong cardboard. Paint white and draw on the stand with a black pen. Fit and glue together, before fixing a light to the top of the stand. |
|
|
|
Screen
Cut out four panels from MDF, prime and paint white. Once dry, hinge the panels together. Photocopy some images and fix to the screen with spray mount. Add a decorative swirl above and below each picture to complete the look. |
