Transform your lounge into a wacky cubist family room. Wooden cubed seating and a hanging niche storage area combine with browns and purples to make a room that really has to be seen to be believed.

Wall colour
Paint the walls with stone and brown coloured paint. Separate the two colours with a band of white satin paint. |

|
Flooring and seating
Lightly sand the floor and then paint in stone brown. Build a modular seating construction from 18mm shuttering ply. Cover with off cuts of carpet. Stain the boxes with dark wood stain. |

|
|
Purple cushions
Personalize large floor cushions by covering with purple corduroy. Make a tubular floor mat by covering insulator piping which is 40mm in diameter with red stretch fabric. |

|
|
Storage units
Make storage units that appear to be floating. Use 6m key clamp poles with U clamps to hold the doors in place. Make the doors for the wall unit from 18mm fireproof ply and 18mm shuttering ply. Stain these with dark oak wood stain. |

|
Window dressing
At the window and doorways, hang rip stop nylon on suspension wire to create a sliding movable curtain on the wall and ceiling. Weight down with 10mm dowel to keep it taut. |
|
|
|
Poetry wall
Create a poetry wall using magnetic paint. Invest in a magnetic poetry set and put your poetic skills into practice. |
|

|
Games table
Make a solitaire table from MDF and marbles. Dress the room with plaster of Paris bowls and other ornaments. |
