Design a brightly coloured fun room for a young boy, which doubles as a playroom and bedroom.

Spilt level flooring
Build a split-level floor with a curved edge to create a natural divide in the room, between the play area and the sleeping area. Paint the exposed wood with diamond glaze varnish. Lay down carpet in the bedroom area to make it feel warm and cosy. |

|
Brighten up the walls
Paint the walls in two bright colours and separate with a wavy line. Split the two colours above eye level, as this is an effective way to make a room appear taller. |
|
|
|
Hide away beds
To create more space buy fold away beds that lift onto the walls and can be pulled down as and when required. Build the wall out using MDF to make the beds flush with the walls. |
|
|
|
Panelling
Fit the beds into the walls by building MDF panelling around the beds. This also produces more storage space. Fill in the gaps rounds the edges with plasterers filler before painting to match the walls. |
|
|
|
Funky radiator
Install unusual shaped radiators that will not only keep the room warm, but double as a feature. |
|
|
|
Finishing touches
Put up posters around the room. Add beanbags and a cosmic cone lamp, which will cast interesting light across the room to complete this childs bedroom. |
