My name is Stanley Jones and I already have profiles and memories of my childhood during World War II but because of computor problems have had to sign on again. My earlier memories are all listed under Trowbridge and Wiltshire. Looking forward to reading other people's memories - they make fascinating reading and it is good to be able to share with other of us 'golden oldies' who have so much to pass on to the younger generations
Since starting these memories it has been exciting not just being able to record some of the events of World War 2 but also to share these with others of the same generation. From many parts of the country, and it has become obvious that we in Trowbridge were not always in the front line as for instance those children who were in the blitz. Neverthless it has been a worthwhile experience -and a huge thanks to the BBC. As the days go by memories of the war will become more and more distant, but through this medium and the stories being put in the National archives it is hoped that future generations of children will continue to learn of that period 1939-45 in the middle of the twentieth century.
