If you are adding a story on behalf of someone else, you need to make sure that they are aware of the site’s terms and conditions. The most important of these states that, by adding a story to the site, although the contributor retains copyright of their story, they give the BBC the right to use it.

Make sure that you include the following disclaimer, with your and the contributor’s name, at the beginning of every story:
"This story was submitted to the People’s War site by Joan Smith [ie you, the volunteer] of [your organisation] on behalf of John Brown [ie the author] and has been added to the site with his / her permission. The author fully understands the site's terms and conditions."
