I remember being about 9 years of age and I didn't like the gas masks.Although there were air-raid shelters in the street we ran for shelter to the Cavehill when the bombs were falling and found that very frightening. From there we were able to watch the bombs falling. We had to do without butter, and put raspberry jam on our bread instead of butter.
