THis is a picture of King George VI on board HMS during WW2. CPO William George Barnett is in the background.

My dad received the Distinguished Service Medal in 1943 for his 'leadership, zeal and skill while serving in His Majesty's Submarine Unison in War Patrols in the Mediterranean in the course of which much havoc was caused to enemy shipping'. He went to Buckingham Palace in November 1943 to receive his award.
