I was born in the “Firs” (Nursing Home) in 1942 and when the sirens went off, all the babies were taken down into the air raid shelter but the mothers were left on the ward!
My uncle was in the Army and returned home with Shell-Shock. He was only in his 20’s and spent the next 10 years in a Mental hospital at Mickleover, Derbyshire.
