My Father and my Mother’s oldest brother who was serving in West Africa both got leave together and came home to stay with my Mum. Because of rationing she had a recipe for a cake using liquid paraffin instead of butter or margarine. As a celebration she baked this cake with of course predictable results, both my Dad and my Uncle spent the rest of their leave on the toilet!
