About the author

Following a career in town planning practice and research, focusing on the use of Geographical Information Systems for historical land use analysis, Allan Williams became Head of Digitisation Services at Keele University in 2001. His leadership in the development of the Aerial Reconnaissance Archive now allows electronic access to more than 6.5 million aerial reconnaissance photographs, taken during World War Two.
