'Viking Age Farmhouse' activity
Start activity
If the virtual tour doesn't play, you may need to download a free VRML plug-in (eg Cortona). BBC WebWise has a step-by-step guide to help you.

Take a virtual tour through this model of a Viking Age farm, excavated at Ribblehead, Yorkshire, in the 1970s.

There's a main building - probably living quarters, and two smaller buildings - probably a blacksmith's workshop and a storehouse/kitchen.

[NB: Look around by clicking a button left of the screen. Then click on your mouse and hold down, as you move your cursor round the screen - you'll get different effects according to which button you've chosen (although some are deactivated) - to stop, release the cursor.

Select a button at the bottom of the screen for different views - no need to hold down. Note that 'view' has two arrows - to stop, click 'back' arrow.]
