Ewen Southby-Tailyour had a unique role in the Falklands Conflict. As an acting major with the detachment of Royal Marines garrisoned in the Falkland Island in the late 1970s he assessed their viability for defence in the event of an invasion. In 1982 he acted as special advisor to the British taskforce.
