1986 HOUSING SURVEY - MARTLESHAM

                                       
 We sent out questionnaires to all the 
parents of children at Beacon Hill     
School. 52 completed the survey and of 
these                                  
                                       
  25 live in houses (16 detached       
                    ( 9 semi-detached  
  20 live in bungalows                 
   4 live in caravans                  
   3 live in a cottage or flat.        
                                       
 Most people have lived in this area   
for some time                          
   8   more than 15 years              
  24 between 6 and 10 years            
   9 less than 5 years                 
                                       
 Forty-one homes were heated with gas, 
seven with coal, three with            
electricity and one with oil.

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.
