1986 Stowmarket Carnival.

   Stowmarket has had a carnival for 25
years and so it celebrates its Silver  
Jubilee in 1985.                       
   Each year a different theme is used,
a variety of activities takes place    
throughout Carnival Week including     
football,darts,crib matches,snooker, a 
fancy dress parade.  Prizes for these  
are usually awarded on the Saturday    
after the highlight of the week, which 
is the procession of decorated floats  
through the town, led by the Carnival  
Queen.                                 
     There is a Fun-Fair on the        
Recreation Ground, also numerous trade 
stands.                                
     The week starts with a swimming   
gala and ends with a firework display. 
The carnival draws people in from many

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.
