1986 biography father diamond
Father Diamond was born in Pimlico London in 1935.He went to Hillerfield Rd School in Streatham and then on to Strand Grammer School,Brixton.When young he wanted to be a tram driver.He left school and joined the army for his national service.According to him "I was so bad as a private they sent me away to officer school to become a luitenant.After national service he wento Oxford to study for his degree in history.He decided he wanted to help people by becoming a priest.First he worked in Liverpool for five years While there a young Paul McCartney asked if his new pop group could use the church to practice.Father Diamond was ordained in 1961.After 5 years he was asked by the Bishop of Southwark to take over the running of St. Pauls Church Deptford.He has been a priest for24 years.He likes being a priest.
