1986 Entertainment

 The biggest theatre is the Barbican   
near Moorgate station. It was built    
just a few years ago. It is the home   
for the Royal Shakespear Company which 
used to be at the Aldwych in the       
Strand. On level 1 there is a small    
theatre called the Pit also run by the 
RSC. Finally there are two cinemas and 
a large concert hall.                  
 The half-Moon theatre is in Mile      
End road near Stepney Green Station.   
In Commercial Road is the Palaseum     
Cinema; it is on the opposite          
of Sidney Street and shows mainly      
Asian Films.

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.
