 There are 820 students at William     
Ellis state school and 1\4 of the      
students are of ethenic minorities.23  
languages other than English are       
spoken.The majority speak fluent       
 Pupils are taught in mixed ability    
classes in the first three years.      
In the 4th and 5th years pupils are    
put into ability sets for some         
subjects.  How are the pupils chosen   
for the school?                        
 The primary schools carry out tests   
and give pupils a grading of 1,2 or 3. 
The school has to take 25% with grade 1
classification,50% of grade 2 and 25%  
grade 3.Students have to live in the   
area close to the school(catchment     
area)unless they have a brother already
