1986 EDUCATION LOCAL AREA SURVEY

 COLDEAN JUNIOR SCHOOL. For 7-11 year  
 olds,with 180 on roll.A cash cafeteria
 operates as well as facilities for    
 packed lunch.A policy of work outdoors
 is encouraged and visits are arranged 
 frequently.There are lunchtime clubs  
 and after school activities.          
 PATCHAM FAWCETT SCHOOL. With 790 boys 
 on roll from September 1985.Pupils are
 seperated in 3 broad Ability Bands.   
 Audio Visual Aids and computer        
 assisted learning techniques operate. 
 Emphasis is on sports,P.E. ,Swimming, 
 Careers and Health Education are      
 included in the broad curriculum.     
 PATCHAM FIRST SCHOOL. With 174 pupils.
 there are 9 full-time and 8 part-time 
 teachers.Sports include rounders and  
 football.                             
 WESTDENE SCHOOL. With 265 pupils.There
 are 11 full-time and 3 part-time      
 teachers.Sports iclude rugby & cricket

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.
