1986 Schools

 Salesian School, a comprehensive, in  
 Chertsey has nearly 1000 pupils, over 
 two sites. A staff of 61 includes     
 priests and nuns. Being a Catholic    
 school it has a large catchment area. 
 The Meads Comprehensive School is     
 closing after 20 years. It is merging 
 with St. Pauls at Addlestone to form  
 Abbeylands from September 1985.       
 St. Georges is a private Catholic     
 boarding and day school.              
 There are 3 middle schools which      
 include their own first school, St.   
 Nicholas C/E, Pyrcroft and Stepgates. 
 St. Thomas the Apostle and Our Lady's 
 First schools are R.C.                
 Two special schools are Claybourne for
 educationallly sub-normal children and
 Manor Mead for children with brain and

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.
