1986 THEATRE IN THE ROUND
The Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round has been running for thirty years and was founded by Stephen Joseph . Forty people are now employed by the theatre. It is not only the people of Scarborough that visit this theatre . Around eight different professional plays are performed in a year plus amateur productions.The Theatre in the Round holds 303 people , the studio holds 75 people . The week ending the 29th of June was an average week and 1,300 tickets were sold . About 1,500 people come to the theatre each week The studio is used for lunchtime shows , also there are many other uses of the theatre including exhibitions, jazz and pop concerts ,which concern local and national musicians.There is also a restaurant and bar. Also the theatre provides rehearsal facilities.
