Scouting is the largest single youth

the county there were 107 Scout groups
catering for Cub Scouts in the age
range 8 to 11 years old, Scouts
between 11 and 15 and Venture Scouts
for boys and girls up to age 20.

The annual census showed 3000 Cub
Scouts, 1900 Scouts and over 300
 Ventures.

The aim of the Scout Association is
 defined as being........

   "To encourage the physical, mental
    and spiritual development of young
people so that they may take a
    constructive place in society"

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.
