1986 TREES

 On  the 11 June 1985,Class 2W of the  
 Hermitage Middle School planted a     
 small Wellingtonia tree.We were with  
 Mr Humphrey of the "Men of Trees."This
 is a Conservation Charity whose Patron
 is H.R.H. The Prince of Wales.The tree
 is in Sutton Avenue and near another  
 Giant Sequoia which is over 1OO years 
 old and used to stand in the old      
 Hermitage House grounds.That one is   
 approximately 16.5 metres tall and its
 girth is 8.8 metres at ground level.  
 The baby tree is 3 years old and 46   
 centimetres tall.
