1986 The Village of Worplesdon

 Worplesdon stands between common,
farmland & woodland on a westward
facing slope on sandy soil. The
village straggles north to south along
the A322 from Aldershot to Guildford.
To the west are fields farmed by the
 Merrist Wood Agricultural College. The
village has spread a little from its
 medieval centre. The new development
north this century is of pleasant
 middle-class council-type houses. The
development east is of very fine
houses, built this century, with large
grounds. Few of the approximately 1000
inhabitants work in the village, most
 commute to Aldershot, Woking,
Guildford or London. There are all age
groups in plenty here. Worplesdon has
few amenities except a sloping green
surrounded by trees & old houses, two
inns, one garage, church & chapel,
 although the memorial hall (cont..)

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.

If you are reading this via UK Government Web Archive, then the original Domesday search function and contact form will not work. This is a consequence of the archiving process. See Using Domesday for more details.
