It was aimed to raise 30 000 pounds    
towards the cost of repairs to Saint   
Etheldreda's Church tower at a village 
festival,the whole population working  
together.

continued and were added to by         
auctions,wine and cheese parties and a 
choral evensong:                       
By Sunday evening 23 079 pounds had

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.
