1986 Places of work in Riddings

     About 50 years ago some men went  
 to work in coal mines such as Swanwick
 and Butterley.                        
     In Riddings there was an ironworks
 near Pye Bridge.James Oakes owned the 
 ironworks.Riddings also had a concrete
 works .There were very few jobs for   
 women.                                
 Now in 1985 there is the Diversey     
 chemical factory ,a Soap factory      
 ,Peek-a-boo ,Ply-Glass and several
