1986 Schools in Codnor

   Children have the opportunity to    
 begin their education at the age of   
 three by attending the playgroup in   
 Peveril House or the nursery unit of  
 the Infant School.                    
   At five, they move to the Infant    
 School (head Miss S.Taylor) .There are
 4 teachers, 2 welfare and 1 clerical  
 assistants and 2 cleaners.            
   The Junior School (head,Mr.A.Morgan)
 has 135 pupils,5 teachers,clerical and
 welfare assistants,caretaker,cleaning 
 and kitchen staff and lunchtime       
 supervisors. The lessons are varied   
 and interesting: maths,Enlish,science,
 environmental studies,PE,RE,music,art.
   There is a craft/science room where 
 the two computers and colour TV are   
 kept as additional aids to learning.  
   At eleven, children move to Aldercar
 or Ripley Mill Hill secondary schools.
