1986 APPLEBY AND RURAL NW LEICS

  This area is basically rural with    
 three villages in Leicestershire but  
 boardering on Staffordshire,Derbyshire
 and Warwickshire. Farming has changed 
 in the last decade with many farmers  
 moving from dairy to arable farming.  
 The largest village is Appleby Magna. 
 Appleby Parva (Overtown)is not in our 
 D block.Appleby medical centre takes  
 patients from surrounding villages    
 including those in Derbyshire,Staffs  
 and Warks.However most people shop in 
 the larger towns(Tamworth/Burton)     
  The other two villages are very small
 in comparison. Chilcote consists of   
 approx.20 houses and farms and a small
 church(Clifton Campville parish)and no
 pub!It has a population of 94.        
  Stretton en le Field has approx.10   
 houses and farms and a disused church 
 (very large for the size of village)  
 with a population of 37.
