   CROXDALE LIES HALF A MILE NORTH OF  
 TUDHOE COLLIERY, BUILT TO HOUSE       
 MINING FAMILIES ON THE SALVIN         
 ESTATE.THE SALVINS HAVE RESIDED HERE  
 FOR THE PAST 500 YEARS. CROXDALE IS IN
 THE DURHAM DISTRICT, THE BOUNDARY     
 BEING THE NICKYNACK BECK.UP TO 1830   
 SPENNYMOOR WAS WASTE OR MOORLAND WHEN 
 IT RAPIDLY DEVELOPED INTO A           
 COAL-MINING BOOM-TOWN, COMPLETE WITH A
 RAILWAY AND A HUGE IRONWORKS COMPLEX. 
 ALL HAVE LONG SINCE DISAPPEARED. TODAY
 THE TOWN IS MODERN AND REDEVELOPED    
 WITH LIGHT INDUSTRIES. MAJOR NATIONAL 
 COMPANIES OPERATE ON TWO LARGE        
 INDUSTRIAL ESTATES AT MERRINGTON LANE 
 & GREEN LANE. SEVERAL NEW PRIVATE &   
 COUNCIL HOUSING ESTATES PROVIDE AN    
 EXCELLENT & EXTENSIVE RANGE OF LIVING 
 ACCOMODATION IN THE AREA. DISTRICT    
 COUNCIL OFFICES ARE CONVENIENTLY      
 LOCATED AT GREEN LANE.

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.
