   Much of the area is bounded by 3    
 valleys:-Bradford Beck,Fagley Beck and
 the R.Aire.Most of the area overlooks 
 these valleys to the west,to the east 
 and to the north.The highest part of  
 the block is on Idle Hill at 228m     
 while the lowest point is 55m in the  
 Aire Valley at Apperley Bridge.The    
 small area of the block,to the east of
 Fagley Beck,is in Leeds MDC whilst the
 NW corner of the block is in          
 Shipley,now part of Bradford MDC.     
   The A658,Bradford-Harrogate         
 road,crosses the Aire Valley at       
 Apperley Bridge.The A657,Leeds-Shipley
 road,uses the higher slopes of the    
 Aire Valley and meets the A658 at     
 Greengates.There are no railways in   
 the block.The Leeds-Liverpool         
 Canal,mainly used for pleasure        
 craft,uses the Aire Valley in the NE  
 corner of the block.
