1986 HOUSING AND FARMING

The square is covered by farmland
 following a rotation of crops.
The area is owned by Hon Mrs M Marten,
but 2 separate farms work the land.
Both have large dairy herds of about
200 cows each. The main farm sited in
this area has meadows along the River
Allen & managed grassland. The fishing
rights belong to Crichel Estates & a
syndicate. There are 25 acres of
 managed mixed woodland. The population
is 8 & live in a farm, a disused mill,
an old golf club house & 2 Estate
owned bungalows let to 2 Wimborne
District Council tenants who are not
employed locally. 1 lady uses the bus
service but she needs to cycle to
 Witchampton first. All homes have
pets, phones, own transport & l or
 more drivers because of remote
situation. Local doctors are some 6-8
miles away as are large shops.
