1986 Friends of Cannock Chase.

The Association of the Friends of
Cannock Chase is about 50 years old.
There are about 350 members at present.
Its aims are the preservation and
protection of Cannock Chase for use by
the public.
    Three of their achievements have
been 1) Stopping of military use of the
land, 2) Stopping the construction of a
motorway, 3) Stopping the extension of
gravel extraction.
    The Association holds regular
meetings, arranges walks on the Chase
and visits local places of interest.
    The Society badge is the
Staffordshire Knot and above it a
leaping deer.
    The present Society Secretary
visited our school to tell us about the
Association.
