1986 TRADE

                                       
  Cannock centres upon Market Place    
 from which all roads radiate to all   
points of the compass. With its flowers
and trees is one of the brightest      
centres in the area.                   
  There is an attractive indoor market 
which is open on Tuesday,Friday and    
Saturday.                              
  A new precinct in Market Hall street 
contains an International Superstore,  
and a Co-op,a number of fashion        
boutiques for men and women,a travel   
agent and an arcade.                   
  In the residential areas there are   
well established shopping centres such 
as Chadsmoor and Blackfords,not only   
meeting day to day needs but often     
including more specialist shops. Of    
people surveyed,most prefered to shop

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.
