1986 Religion-Broughton/Holt

 This area is served by three churches.
 ANGLICAN CHURCH                       
 The churches of Holt,Chalfield and    
 Broughton Gifford share a rector, the 
 present incumbent being the Rev.      
 Reuben Dunning. Only the churches of  
 St. Mary BG. and All Saints Chalfield 
 (see TOURISM) are in the area         
 surveyed.                             
 METHODIST CHURCH                      
 The first Chapel was built in 1828, at
 this time the Rev. TR Jones had five  
 members. The present Chapel was built 
 in 1907 and the present incumbent is  
 Rev. G Nuttall.                       
 BAPTIST CHURCH                        
 Around the year 1780 meetings were    
 held in a clubroom at the rear of The 
 Bell Inn. The present Chapel was      
 erected in 1806 and the present Pastor
 is Cliff Mortimer.
