1986 SAMLESBURY MILL

 SAMLESBURY MILL, NEAR HOGHTON         
 THE OLD PAPER MILL WAS CLOSED DOWN IN 
 THE 1960'S AND THE MILL WAS NOT THEN  
 USED UNTIL 1973 WHEN IT WAS PARTLY    
 TAKEN OVER BY OLLERTON ENGINEERING.   
 THIS FIRM RESTORES OLD CARS AND       
 CUSTOMIZES VANS.  IT EMPLOYS NINE     
 PEOPLE.                               
 LATER, THREE OTHER FIRMS TOOK OVER    
 PART OF THE MILL.  THEY ARE A PET FOOD
 MANUFACTURER, A PAPER MANUFACTURER AND
 A WINE WHOLESALER.                    
 THE PET FOOD MANUFACTURER MAKES DRIED 
 PET FOOD AND EMPLOYS TEN PEOPLE.  IT  
 WAS OPENED IN 1979.  SOUTH RIBBLE     
 PAPER SERVICES WAS OPENED IN 1980 AND 
 MAKES PAPER FOR THE BUILDING TRADE AND
