1986 Cupar Education

 The Secondary school is called Bell   
 Baxter.It is a 6 year comprehensive & 
 at present is split into 2 buildings. 
 The Westport building houses 996      
 pupils-1st,2nd & a portion of 3rd     
 year.The Westfield building houses 868
 pupils from 3rd to 6th year.          
  Bell Baxter supplies a comprehensive 
 academic education taught by 140      
 teachers.After 2nd year the number of 
 subjects studied are narrowed down in 
 preparation for "O" Grade exams which 
 are taken in 4th year.After this      
 pupils may decide to leave or to stay 
 for a 5th & 6th year to sit "O","H",or
 C.S.Y.S. exams.                       
  The introduction of the new Munn &   
 Dunning examination system of         
 certificates for all has been         
 postponed indefinately due to         
 industrial action by Scottish teachers
 claiming an independent pay review.
