1986 EMPLOYMENT IN NAIRN

 The catchment area for our school     
 Millbank is mainly four council       
 housing schemes and an area of        
 privately owned housing called the    
 Fishertown. We obtained our statistics
 about employment in our area by       
 sending home survey sheets with       
 Millbank pupils.From the 124 sheets   
 returned on male employment we found  
 the principal employers were          
 McDermotts builders of off shore oil  
 platforms 35,tourist related          
 industries 7,bulding trades 7,oil     
 related work 7 and 12 men were        
 unemployed. The remaining distribution
 was evenly spread over the traditional
 industries.Ofthe 119 survey sheets    
 returned by females 34 were           
 housewives,24 were unemployed 10      
 worked in  shops,9 in Education,6 were
 cleaners and the remainder in         
 traditional jobs.
