1986 Language and Trade

The differences between the west bank
and the east bank of the river Loughor
are not only physical ones. The rate
of anglicising seems greater on the
West Glamorgan side than on the Dyfed
side. There are more Welsh speakers in
the more rural Dyfed area than in the
 more industrial West Glamorgan side.

 Pontarddulais families do their

centre. Pontarddulais is the larger of
the three communities and contains the
greater range of facilities for its
families. These are found centrally in
the main street passing through the
 village.

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.

If you are reading this via UK Government Web Archive, then the original Domesday search function and contact form will not work. This is a consequence of the archiving process. See Using Domesday for more details.
