1986 Local Sport

Sport is well catered for locally in
all three communities with first class
 facilities in each place.
Pontarddulais has a Rugby Club which
 fields several teams every Saturday,
as does Hendy and Llangennech. These
teams have enjoyed success in the past
years in the West Wales Rugby Union
competitions and many of their players
have gone on to play first class
rugby. The three villages have cricket
teams in the South Wales Cricket
 Association and employ professional
 cricketers as coaches.
Tennis and bowls are also catered for
 with facilities at Pontarddulais and
There is an open air pool at Hendy but
 for any competitive work, swimmers
either have to go to Swansea, Llanelli
or to the Penyrheol Leisure Centre at
