1986 Before and After School

An ordinary day, by Leigh, aged 10

I usually get up at 7.30 when my
mother calls me. I get out of bed and
my breakfast is waiting for me on the
table. I go to school at 8.25 and
arrive at 8.45. That gives me quarter
of an hour to play in the yard.

After school I walk home with my
friend Richard. When I get home I
change and go and call my other friend
Kevin. We play badminton until we have
to go in. Once inside I have my tea
and get changed. I then watch
television until I have to go to bed.
When I get into bed I play with my BMX
Burner Game, and then when I'm tired I
 go to sleep.

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.

If you are reading this via UK Government Web Archive, then the original Domesday search function and contact form will not work. This is a consequence of the archiving process. See Using Domesday for more details.
