1986 Location and Landscape

This area is bisected by the tidal
section of the River Loughor. The
 river also provides the boundary
between the counties of Dyfed and West
 Glamorgan.

This area of Dyfed was once
part of the south east section of the
 old county of Carmarthenshire. The
block contains the major part of three
 communities; Pontarddulais on the
eastern bank of the river, and Hendy
and Llangennech on the western bank.

Tributaries of the Loughor enter the
main river at all three villages, the
Dulais at Pontarddulais, the Gwili at
Hendy and the Morlais at Llangennech.

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.

If you are reading this via UK Government Web Archive, then the original Domesday search function and contact form will not work. This is a consequence of the archiving process. See Using Domesday for more details.
