1986 Landscape of Mynydd Sylen.

The landscape of this area is hilly,
rising to 933ft.at the top of Mynydd
 Sylen.There is a police transmission
mast situated at the top of this.
The land is mainly fields surrounded
 by hedges,but there are some
 coniferous plantations too and also
 wild moorland.
 Beside Cynheidre Colliery there are
coal tips. These have been grassed over
so they look like hills.Left bare they
would have been ugly and dangerous.
This area has a beauty of its own,
 whatever the season.

What is Domesday?

In 2011 the BBC published the survey online and for six months invited updates to the photographs and text to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Shortly afterwards the website was added to The National Archives’ UK Government Web Archive.

If you are reading this via UK Government Web Archive, then the original Domesday search function and contact form will not work. This is a consequence of the archiving process. See Using Domesday for more details.
