1986 Education in Ponthenry.

 Ponthenry School is a designated      
 county primary with 59 children on    
 roll,3 teachers,2 kitchen employees,2 
 dinner supervisors and cleaner in     
 charge.The medium of instruction is   
 Welsh in the infants' department and  
 bilingual in the juniors'.91.5% of the
 children are fluent Welsh speakers.   
 There are 3 classes:Infants-30        
 children,Standards 1 and 2-13 children
 ,Standards 3 and 4-16 children.       
 Children are admitted at the beginning
 of the term following their fourth    
 birthday and are transferred to the   
 Secondary Schools at the age of       
 eleven.                               
 There are 2 buildings on the school   
 campus with 4 classrooms,library,     
 Headmaster's office,School Hall and
