Image of a Sinn Fein anti-recruitment postcard
"Join an Irish Regiment today." In 1914 the Irish Parliamentary Party leader John Redmond adopted a Kitchener-like pose for a recruiting poster urging Irish men to join an Irish regiment. Sinn Fein were quick to dispel the glory of the war by publishing this anti-recruitment postcard which places Redmondís original poster above a battlefield full of the skeletons of dead soldiers who point at him in an accusatory fashion. ©
