About the author
Nigel Pocock is a social scientist, freelance writer and researcher. He has a research degree in Theology and Social Psychology (University of Wales, Lampeter). His work has appeared in the Tamil Times, Journal of Theology & Psychology, Journal of Pastoral Psychology (the latter two with Prof Leslie Francis). His book (with Dr Dominic Beer), Mad, Bad or Sad? A Christian approach to antisocial behaviour and mental disorder, appeared in 2006. He has written some ten monographs on various aspects of slavery.
Victoria Cook is a freelance historian, researcher and writer. She worked for the Imperial War Museum for five years and has contributed to the BBC History website on a number of occasions.
