Get away from it all

Do you need to blow the cobwebs away? Take in some fresh air with a walk along the prom, down the Victorian steps and onto the town’s sandy beaches.

Main Street, Nairn

Alternatively, go for a wander along the River Nairn's circular footpaths, which provide picturesque routes around the local area.

If history is your thing, take the short trip to Culloden Moor. Here you can take in the setting of the last battle to have been engaged on British soil.

To quell dissent, after the battle at Culloden, Fort George was constructed. This massive construction remains in impeccable condition, and is worth a visit.

To soak up yet more local and national history, take a trip to one of the three castles in the Nairn area: Cawdor Castle, Brodie Castle and Castle Stuart.

The Culbin Nature Reserve makes for an excellent day out. Here you'll find a RSPB coastal nature reserve, and a forest with some attractive trails.
